Marathon Training
Posted by Nick under: Running.
Well, now that I have reached the halfway point in my training to run a marathon, I thought I would broadcast it to the world. I’m not sure why I decided to try one as I have never really been that interested in distance running. I pretty much gave up any distance running after middle school (not that that was real running though.) Jenny did the Air Force Marathon in Ohio back in dental school and has since done a few 1/2 marathons. A couple of months ago I became interested in seeing if I could make it further than a 5 or 10k. So Jenny set up a plan for me and we began running 4 days a week. I have been surprised that I as I have trained I have actually looked forward to early morning runs. Usually I’ll get up around 0500 and run before work. That is the only way to survive down here in the NC heat. Today I made it through the 13 miles right on my goal pace. It felt pretty good the whole way. I was just happy to not significantly injure myself. Hopefully I will make it to the end with my body holding together. The plan is to run the Thunder Road Marathon in Charlotte, NC in December. Wish me luck…
